Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. I support families preparing for hospital births, birth center births, and home births.

While my personal experiences with home birth have deeply influenced my philosophy, my role as a doula is to provide emotional, physical, and informational support that honors your unique preferences, values, and circumstances.

Birth is unpredictable, and every woman deserves compassionate support throughout her journey. Whether your birth unfolds exactly as planned or takes an unexpected turn, my intention is to help you feel informed, grounded, and supported every step of the way.

  • On-call availability begins at 38 weeks and continues until your baby arrives.

  • If permitted, I will continue to provide support in the hospital setting. If hospital policies do not allow this, I remain available for virtual support and postpartum care to ensure you continue to feel supported.

  • I provide continuous, attentive support throughout active labor and remain with you through the most physically and emotionally demanding phases of birth.

My intention is to support you in a steady, grounded way for the entirety of your labor experience, while also ensuring I am able to remain present and responsive.

  • Labor can unfold in many different ways, and longer labors are not uncommon.

During active labor, I provide continuous support. If labor extends beyond that window, we plan ahead so you continue to feel fully supported.

    This may include:

    • A brief period of rest for me so I can return grounded and attentive

    • Your partner stepping in with the tools we’ve practiced together

    • Additional support if needed and arranged in advance

You will never be left without a plan or without support.

  • Absolutely. Doula support is not limited to unmedicated birth.

I provide emotional support, practical comfort measures, partner guidance, and a steady presence throughout labor and birth. Many women find that having continuous support helps them feel more confident and grounded, regardless of the choices they make along the way.

  • Yes. Preparing for a cesarean birth can bring its own questions, emotions, and unique needs.

Doula support can help you navigate your options, prepare emotionally, involve your partner, and create a birth experience that feels informed, supported, and aligned with your values.

  • Birth support is not only about being present, but about being present well.

Short periods of rest allow me to return with full attention, clarity, and steadiness, which ultimately supports the flow of labor and your overall experience.

We discuss this together during prenatal visits so that everyone feels prepared, confident, and supported.

  • Yes. Payment plans are available upon request, with the full balance due by 38 weeks.

  • The retainer secures your due date window and on-call availability and is non-refundable once booked.

  • Birth work requires presence, flexibility, and rest. Limiting the number of families I support allows me to offer calm, attentive, and sustainable care to each family I work with.

  • A limited number of community-supported birth spots are available each year for families navigating financial constraints. Availability is limited and discussed during consultation.
